Kano State is said to have won its fight against Lassa Fever as all the suspected persons at the Isolation Center have been discharged. This is even as the State said they have no report of any symptoms of COVID-19 in the State.
“Although, on daily basis, we receive rumours of possible persons with Coronavirus, but all the ones we have detected so far, three of them have been cleared as negative “, the Health Commissioner, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said.
The Health Commissioner who was speaking to newsmen in a press conference in collaboration with the Commissioner for Information, said all the three cases tested were negative.
Tsanyawa explained that the State was lucky that as nations are facing challenges of how to combat COVID-19, in Kano they succeeded in fighting Lassa Fever and they are also trying hard in ensuring no case of Corona is found.
The Commissioner said they have taken adequate measures against unnecessary gathering of people.
However, despite Nigeria taking strong measures against travellings, the state is yet to take any definite measures in that regard.
“We are responding to rumour mongering against COVID-19. We are living no stone unturned because the virus is so serious, and we need to respond without hesitation.”
Dr Ibrahim Tsanyawa assured that in all the three suspected cases of COVID-19, none was tested positive, and they have since been discharged after spending their required days at the isolation centres.
He said Governor Ganduje has provided enough funds to the Ministry for financial support.
Speaking, Mallam Muhammad Garba, the State Commissioner for Information, commended the media for sensitizing Nigerians on the dangers of COVID-19.
