The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reacted to reports making the rounds of a suspected case of Coronavirus in Abuja.
Reports emerged on Friday that a case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Apo area of Abuja.
However, NCDC in a statement on its official Twitter page debunked the report, describing it as false.
The agency urged Nigerians to disregard such information, as they would give updates if there are any new cases of COVID-19.
The statement read: “The news circulating of COVID19 confirmed cases in Apo, Abuja is FALSE
“For 2 weeks, individuals have edited our graphics used to announce cases and to spread panic
“Please disregard and follow our contact details for updates. Every new case confirmed is announced accordingly.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Administration, FCTA on Thursday instructed that all schools in FCT be shut down from Friday 20th, March 2020
The special Assistant to the FCT Minister, Mr Austine Elemue sis the decision was taken as a preventive measure to curb the spread of the pandemic.
This will take effect from Monday, 23rd March 2020.
