The apex Igbo youth socio-cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council,(OYC), has urged governors of South East region to close down churches, public schools and malls especially where there are crowds of more than 30 persons, to serve as precautionary measures to curb the spread of dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in the zone.
This is as many indigenes set to return home from abroad for the Easter festive season.
The Igbo group also commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government on the preventive steps taken so far, especially in closing of borders, shutting down all Federal Government’s schools and colleges, including Airports as well as imposing travel ban on 13 high countries affected by the pandemic.
This was contained in a terse statement signed by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday afternoon.
According to Ohanaeze, the federal government should also introduce preventive measures at motor parks, as the parks have the potential of encouraging spread
It added, “OYC insists that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi should investigate the recent death of a 70-year-old woman suspected of having the dreaded Coronavirus, irrespective of the accusations of the family that the woman died due to the negligence of Enugu government.
