Lagos State Government on Saturday gave further update on last Sunday’s pipeline explosion at Abule Ado.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the number of fatalities have jumped to 23.
Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA Director-General, appealed to citizens to remain calm and keep away from the scene.
He said: “We regret to report that the fatality rate from the incident has climbed to 23 with the death of a female victim who had been receiving treatment at the Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital
“A revised total of 500 people have been displaced from their homes; 100 of them have been accommodated in the LASEMA relief camp.
“Our help desk remains manned and personnel are on hand to manage enquiries and arrange transfer to the relief camp for those rendered homeless by the explosions”, the official added.
Impacts of the blasts were felt at Alakija, Amuwo Odofin, Festac and Satellite Town.
