The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed five new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Abuja Lagos and Oyo States.
This follows the announcement by the Oyo State Government that it had recorded a case.
NCDC made the confirmation on Sunday via its Twitter account.
It confirmed three new cases in Lagos.
“One new case of #COVID19 has been confirmed in Oyo State, Nigeria. As at 08:05a.m on the 22nd of March, there are 26 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria.”
In another tweet, NCDC said as at 11am, another case was confirmed in Abuja.
It added that of the 27 confirmed cases in Nigeria, two have been discharged with no death.
NCDC added that the remaining three new cases were in Lagos, and were being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.
The agency added that the three cases reported in Nigeria’s commercial hub have travel history to high-risk countries in the last seven days.
