Former minister of aviation, Oby Ezekwesili has commended Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos for his efforts since the outbreak of Coronavirus in the state.
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday passed into law an emergency COVID-19 bill.
There are 65 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria, with majority in Lagos.
The government since its first recorded case in Lagos has been addressing residents and previewing measures like fumigating bus stops to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
Ezekwesili took to her Twitter page commending Sanwo-Olu for proving his worth as a good leader.
According to her, Sanwo-Olu has shown impressive leadership in the past few days and has filled the gap of ‘absent central leadership’.
On her Twitter page, the former minister wrote: “There must be many Nigerians who like me daily applaud the Governor of Jide Sanwo-Olu for the impressive political leadership he’s showing at a sub-national level.
“You, Mr. Governor have been an effective gap-filler for an absent Central leadership.
We thank you.”
Her reaction might not be unconnected to the reactions from Nigerians calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to address Nigerians.
Buhari’s unavailability to address Nigerians physically has raised criticism about the president’s wellbeing.
However, the Presidency has insisted that Buhari is in good condition.
