Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed workers on grade levels 1 to 14 to work from home for an initial period of two weeks.
He said the order would be reviewed after the two weeks, depending on developments regarding the coronavirus now causing much concern.
He said, however, that workers on essential services, including health personnel, staff of water board, fire service, board of internal revenue, abattoir as well as media workers and security guards are excluded.
The directive issued to ensure the safety of people against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, takes immediate effect, according to a statement signed by Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.
The statement said although Adamawa State remains free of the pandemic, the work-from-home directive is necessary to keep the state free.
“The Governor reiterated the need for all concerned to observe basic hygiene practices like frequent hand washing and social distancing,” the statement said.
