Commercial vehicles have been banned in Imo State with effect from today Monday, March 30, 2020.
This directive was given by the state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, via a press release.
All the motor parks are to be shut down within the period.
The release was in furtherance of efforts by the state government to contain the spread of Coronavirus in Imo.
The ban was sequel to the earlier Governor’s announcement on the lockdown of all social activities, including church services, market places, marriages, burial ceremonies, among others.
Meanwhile, motorists and commuters operating in the state have expressed dissatisfaction over the development, describing it as unfortunate.
DAILYPOST learnt that a taskforce has been set up by the government to monitor the movement of vehicles in the state.
