Unknown gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen have attacked and killed the former District Head of Jagindi Tasha, Mr. Danlami Barde and his brother, Moses Barde in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Confirming the incident in a media chat in Kafanchan, the Chairman, Jema’a Local Government Council, Peter Danjuma Averik, disclosed that the former district head and stakeholders of the clan were holding a meeting to settle a family dispute when unknown gunmen stormed the venue of the meeting, shooting sporadically, killing Mr. Danlami Barde, while his younger brother died on the way to the hospital for treatment.
Calling on residents of the local government to remain calm and law-abiding, Danjuma Averik assured that government and security agents have swung into action to uncover those behind the gruesome killings.
The council chairman reiterated government’s advice by calling on members of the public to co-exist peacefully to enable government execute people oriented programmes meant to tackle the dreaded Coronavirus.
He advised the public to stay safe by staying at home during the period of the curfew.
The late District Head was a key member of Community Peace Partnership, CPP, who made vital contributions to the return of peace, when Jema’a local government witnessed lingering crises.
The council chairman also admonished the public to observe personal and environmental hygiene, particularly constant hand washing with soap under running water for thirty seconds, avoid hand shake and embrace other measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus virus.
