The Jigawa State government has commended the fumigation of all public places as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVI-19 in the State.
State Commissioner, Ministry of Health, Dr.Abba Zakari disclosed this at the official lunching of the exercise in Dutse Market.
He said the exercise was in collaboration with Lee Group of Company aimed at curtailing the pandemic.
He explained that the fumigation exercise would be carried out in all public places including; mosques, churches, schools, hospitals, government facilities and other public gatherings.
Zakari noted that the exercise would be conducted across all the twenty seven local governments of the state.
He said the state’s task force on implementation and control of COVID-19 had already distributed engine sprayers, hand wash sanitizers, medicines and other chemicals to local government chairmen for immediate commencement of the exercise.
The Chairman, COVID-19 Task Force said the state government had taken various preventive measures to protect its citizens from contracting the pandemic as the state has recorded zero case.
He said part of the measures including;closure of schools, borders, major markets, civil service and banning of all public gatherings.
Zakari said the decision was to limit the influx of people from neighbouring states into Jigawa State.
Dr. Abba Zakari also urged security agencies to ensure that the law restricting cross border movement and ban of public gatherings are strictly enforced.
