The Alternate Chairman of the Food Relief Committee in Osun State, Asiwaju Tunde Badmus, has given a narrative on the mandate of the committee, saying their target is to gather one billion Naira.
The Asiwaju of Musulumi in Yoruba land added that the committee have swung into action and have garnered almost fifty million naira so far .
This was made known during a media interaction organised in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday.
DAILY POST reports that the governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola had on March 31 inaugurated a 21-man food relief committee to mobilise resources towards cushioning the adverse effect of the total lockdown in the state to mitigate the spread of Covovid-19.
The committee, which was headed by the General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye , also picked the former Managing Director of Odua Groups, Mr Adebayo Jimoh as it’s Secretary.
Others are the two former governors of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the former Chief of Army Staff, General Alani Akinrinade, among others.
He highlighted the pattern of distribution of relief materials to include religious organisations, party affiliations , and organised labour .
According to Badmus, Pastor Adeboye had flagged off the contribution process by donating the sum of twenty million naira, while Badmus supported the initial donation with five million naira and donation of bread and biscuits worth twenty five million naira.
He said :” We have identified five patterns of distribution, which include Churches, Mosques, the two leading political parties, and the organised labour.
“We have just realised about fifty million naira, and our target is one billion naira, so, we are working assiduously to help the vulnerable in our society against the economic impact of the lockdown”.
