Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has told Christians to fervently remain steadfast and prayerful in view of the current security and health challenges bedevilling Nigeria.
This is even as President Muhammadu Buhari had in his Easter message on Friday, urged Christians to rekindle their faith in Christ because they will overcome.
He said: “This year’s commemoration of Easter comes amid the grip with which Covid-19 has held the entire world.”
However, Eze commended Christians for strictly complying with government directive on social distancing and other measures to curb the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 ravaging the world.
In a statement forwarded to DAILY POST on Friday, while felicitating with Christian community all over the world on Easter celebration, the APC Stalwart, reminded Christians of the essence of the season and tasked them to reflect on its core-values which are hinged on love and sacrifice.
While congratulating Christians, and in the spirit of the season, he appealed to governments at all levels to redouble efforts in their adopted mechanisms to cushion the effect of the lockdown on citizens.
Eze also appealed for prayers for the country, especially, for God’s intervention on the COVID-19 pandemic that is taking a toll on the nation.
He stressed that not minding the menace of the dreaded virus currently ravaging the world, those still alive should be mindful of the importance of this season which is the celebration of the death of Christ which without, mankind would have been damned and doomed.
“We should, therefore, as children of God critically examine the devastating impact of this pandemic on our lives and sympathize with those whose loved ones have been snatched by this monster.
“As we mourn the dead, let us in this season remember our neighbours and friends that are being tormented by the Hunger Virus that is worse than the COVID-19 pandemic and do the needful by sharing with them what God has blessed us with”.
Eze commended the federal government, most state governments on their proactive interventions and efforts in providing palliatives for the COVID-19 lockdown.
He assured all and sundry that the dreaded health challenges presently bedevilling the nation would soon become history.
