US President, Donald Trump has said he has instructed his administration to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), BBC reports.
According to the President, the WHO had “failed in its basic duty” in its response to the coronavirus outbreak.
He also accused the UN body of not telling the truth about what was happening at the centre of the Chinese outbreak in the city of Wuhan.
Trump has previously accused the WHO of being biased towards China.
It was reported that the hold on funding was expected this week as the Trump administration and conservative allies have ramped up their criticism that the United Nations agency tailored towards China early in the outbreak and jeopardized global health.
DAILY POST had reported that criticisms were coming from U.S politicians, including President Donald Trump, who alleged that WHO was China-centric.
The United Nations, UN, in their defence stated that the WHO has done a great work on Coronavirus under the leadership of Dr. Tedros
