Russia, on Thursday announced the highest number of COVID-19 cases in one day.
The country reported 3,448 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
The figure went up from 3,388 on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
The overall number of cases has reached 27,938, according to the Russian Coronavirus Crisis Response Centre.
In 24 hours, 34 people died taking the national death toll to 232.
Three weeks ago, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, ordered authorities to develop a system to track people who might have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19.
The software will pick out such persons using phone geolocation data.
Russians would be asked if they came into contact with someone who was infected.
Subsequently, the information would be passed on to special regional headquarters set up to fight the pandemic.
