The Imo State House of Assembly has joined in the move to recover the sum of N19.63bn allegedly collected by the immediate past Governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha from the Local Government Joint Accounts Allocation Committee, JAAC.
This, according to our state correspondent was contained in a motion moved by the member representing Oru-east state constituency, Chiagozie Nwaneri at the plenary today.
Leading debate, the former Majority Leader, noted that the said amount was too humongous and may have dealt a devastating blow on the state economy.
He urged the state government to, as a matter of urgency set up a probe panel to look into the allegation, maintaining that those eventually found wanton be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.
In a related development, the Imo State Government through the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the immediate past Governor, Emeka Ihedioha to be prepared to give account of N20bn state allocation under his 7months government.
The Commissioner, Fabian Ihekweme disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Owerri, the state capital.
He said that the government will stop at nothing in recovering every penny looted by Ihedioha’s government
