President Muhammadu Buhari has eased the lockdown in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
The start date for the ease is May 4.
This was contained in his national broadcast Monday night.
Buhari, in his explanation, said recommendations have been carefully studied.
The president said he also took into consideration the position of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) on ease of the lockdown.
He said, “In line with the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on COVID nineteen, the various Federal Government committees that have reviewed socio-economic matters and the Nigeria Governors Forum, I have approved for a phased and gradual easing of lockdown measures in FCT, Lagos and Ogun States effective from May 4, 2020.”
Nigeria currently has 1273 cases and has recorded 40 deaths.
