Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello said he has secured a Bridge Finance loan facility to the tune of N5 billion to be expended on road projects in the state.
He said the loan is besides the N5 billion already expended by his administration on the construction and rehabilitation of various road projects during his second tenure.
Bello, who stated this through the state Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris at a press conference to mark the 2020 Democracy Day and First Anniversary of his second tenure in Minna, said the funds would be spread on road projects across the three senatorial zones.
The Governor stated that the Minna-Bida road as well as double coat surface dressing of Shiroro road to Imani junction, Chanchaga-COE-City Gate road are among the projects the loan facility would be spent on.
“Work will commence next week on the Shiroro Broadcasting road. Though it is a federal road, the Niger Government has decided to do the Chanchaga- COE road.”
According to the commissioner, the road projects within the one year of Bello’s government include the Brighter school-Himma school- Mega Filling Station, Kwangila-Makera, Gbeganu-Fadipke, Bangaie-Darachita, Sabon Gari-UK Bello, as well as Lawu Kinkapa.
Others are Five Number Roads in Kontagora, Sarkin Bosso road, Access Road within Chanchaga, Waterworks, Rehabilitation of Tegina township road and the Minna Western Byepass road
“The administration of Governor Abubakar Bello has in one year of its second tenure, committed over #5billion on different road projects in the state on the construction and rehabilitation of state township and federal roads,” Idris stated.
In the education sector, he revealed that the administration had invested about N1 billion on the renovation and rehabilitation of nine secondary and science colleges under the Whole School Development Approach Programme.
The schools and colleges include Government Secondary School Bida, Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Science College Kutigi, Maryam Babangida Girls Science Secondary School Minna, Government Science College Izom and Government Girls College Kontagora.
Others are Government Secondary School Rijau, Day Secondary School Baro, Government Secondary School Tegina, and Mu’azu Ibrahim Commercial Secondary School Kontagora.
