The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has hinted that the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo, may have died of complications linked with COVID-19.
Osinowo passed away on Monday at 64 after a brief illness.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, described the lawmaker’s death as painful.
The Governor, however, vowed to not relent in the fight against Coronavirus.
“The death of Senator Bayo Osinowo is painful. He died at a time when we have just begun to consolidate on our successes and see a ray of hope in our fight against the COVID-19.
“We must not allow the death of Senator Osinowo to deter us from forging ahead in our quest to find a lasting solution to the dreaded disease,” the statement read.
He also hailed the late lawmaker as a fine gentleman, loyal party man and committed democrat.
