Two hundred businessmen and women in Bauchi State have benefitted from the Federal Government’s micro-enterprises enhancement loan.
Disbursing the loan to beneficiaries in Bauchi today, President Mohammadu Buhari stated that the loan is to help the beneficiaries, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Represented by the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Nasiru Ladan Argungu, President Buhari said the beneficiaries are selected from the 20 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the beneficiaries were carefully selected by their respective local government council chairmen, adding that 10 beneficiaries are picked from each of the local government areas in the state.
In his speech, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the NDE, Lawal Yaya, who represented the Directorate, said the beneficiaries of the enhancement loan are mostly women selling little items like potatoes, tomatoes, Akara, groundnut, groundnut oil, among others.
According to him, the beneficiaries are those who do not have big capital to invest in their trades.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others, Hauwa Aliyu Jalla, expressed appreciation to President Buhari for giving them the money to invest in their trade.
She assured that they would judiciously use the money to boost their respective trades, helping their families and contributing their quotas to the socio-economic development of the state.
