The Governor Dapo Abiodun-led government in Ogun State said new cases of coronavirus has been reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The NCDC on Tuesday night said Ogun recorded 36 new cases of the novel COVID-19 pandemic.
Confirming the report on Wednesday, the Ogun State Government said 55 cases were discharged same day.
As of Wednesday morning, the government, on Twitter, said 422 patients have been discharged so far, out of the 699 total confirmed cases.
With 261 active cases, Ogun, it was learnt, has recorded one new death; meaning that coronavirus has killed 16 persons in the state.
“Ogun State on 23rd June, 2020 recorded 36 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, which brings to 699, the total number of confirmed cases.
“On the same day, the State also discharged 55 patients who had recovered, making the total number of discharged cases 422.
“This is as the State has recorded a cumulative of 16 related deaths.
“Currently, health authorities are managing a total of 261 active cases in the Treatment and Isolation Centres across the State,” it was stated
Meanwhile, Gov. Abiodun has urged all Ogun indigenes to stay safe by washing their hands regularly, wearing face masks, and maintaining social distancing among others.
