The speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Chiji Collins has charged the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control NCDC as well as the Imo State COVID-19 taskforce to retest the 13 members who allegedly tested positive to the virus, insisting that there may be errors in the results so far released.
The speaker said this alongside the member representing Oru-west state constituency, Dominic Ezerioha during a phone-in program at Myradio FM today.
Chiji who is the member representing Isiala-mbano state constituency said that it could be possible that the results released so far were not correct as members said to have tested positive to the virus, according to him, have shown no signs of contacting it.
“The NCDC are only humans and are bound to make mistakes. They said 12 or 13 of our members tested positive to COVID-19. The Assembly has been shut down as a result of that. Members are locked in their houses and no more legislative activities.
“I urge the NCDC or the state COVID-19 taskforce to run another test on these members and I bet, the results will be different,” he insisted.
It would be recalled that the Assembly a couple of weeks ago was shut down after a compulsory COVID-19 test was carried out on all members.
DAILY POST learned that over 12 members tested positive according to the results released by the state COVID-19 taskforce.
The affected members were not disclosed.
