US rapper Kanye West has joined the race for the 2020 presidential election.
The renowned rapper made the announcement via his official Twitter handle on Saturday night.
He said, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.
“I am running for president of the United States,” West tweeted around 9 p.m. ET.
The wealthy musician completed the tweet with an American flag emoji, and the hashtag “#2020VISION.”
West is said to have leaned much more into politics over the past years and has had a handful of meetings with the incumbent President Donald Trump.
West, husband of American media personality, Kimberly Kardashian, is also a singer, songwriter, record producer, composer, entrepreneur and fashion designer and is one of the most acclaimed musicians of his generation.
