The Abia State House of Assembly has received a letter signed by the Acting Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, informing the lawmakers of the reappointment of Transition Committee Chairmen and their Deputies for the seventeen local government areas of the state.
DAILY POST recalls that the Transition Committee Chairmen were appointed on 18th December 2019, by the State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
But, the Acting Governor had last month, approved the reappointment of the 17 Transition Committee Chairmen for another term.
However, the Speaker of the Abia Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, while reading the letter during the plenary session, on Monday, disclosed that the Executive Arm of Government, sought the screening and confirmation of the reappointed Transition Committee Chairmen.
The Abia House of Assembly, had also berated the continued stay of the 17 Transition Committee Chairmen Local Government areas, which according to the legislature, revealed that their tenure had expired on 17th, June, 2020.
The State Assembly while reacting to a matter of urgent public Importance, presented by the Member, representing Isiukwuato constituency, Barrister Emeka Okoroafor, had in June, stated that any further action taken by the 17 Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen from the 17th June 2020, amounts to illegality.
