The Police Service Commission has dismissed ten senior police officers and reduced the rank of eight others.
The decision was made at its 8th Plenary Meeting, which spanned three weeks and ended on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
In a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations of the service, the dismissed officers included one Superintendent of Police (SP), five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) and four Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).
The officers in question were dismissed over various cases of misconduct in the line of duty.
Also, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) were reduced in rank, alongside affected four Superintendents of Police (SP), one Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Police.
“PSC also approved the punishment of severe reprimand for sixteen Officers, reprimand for 13 and letters of warning to four others.
“Two Officers are also to receive letters of advice while eleven were exonerated,” the statement added.
