Kwara State House of Assembly, on Tuesday announced an indefinite suspension of its Wednesday resumption.
The House which went on recess in June, was scheduled to resume Wednesday, according to a statement in Ilorin by the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimat Jummai Kperogi.
“This is to inform the general public that due to unforeseen developments, the Kwara State House of Assembly, has postponed its resumption of plenary to another date to be announced later,” the statement said.
DAILY POST, however, reports that the indefinite suspension of resumption may not be unconnected to the passing of the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Aminu Adisa Logun.
Login died on Tuesday afternoon of COVID-19 complications according to the state government.
The state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had through his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye announced a seven-day mourning in honour of the late Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sule Gambari, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Egnr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, have commiserated with the family of the deceased.
In his condolence message, the Emir of Ilorin, described the late Chief of Staff “as a childhood friend, trusted ally, seasoned industrialist and compassionate politician whose contribution to the state, would not be forgotten in a hurry.”
The Speaker also expressed grief over the demise of Adisa Logun, saying, ” he gave his all to the service of the state and its people until his last breath.
“On behalf of the 9th Kwara State legislature, I console the family of the deceased, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, the government and entire Kwarans over the great loss,” the Speaker stated.
