The Ogun State government has disclosed that a total of 22 patients have died of Coronavirus in the state since February when the index case was reported.
This was contained in a statement shared on its social media platforms on Thursday.
On Wednesday, one person reportedly died of COVID-19, increasing the number of deaths to 22.
Also, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said seven new cases were identified on the same day.
In total, Ogun now has 1,057 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, as 11 of them recovered yesterday.
The government informed that 663 persons have been discharged, leaving the state with 372 active cases.
“As at 8th July 2020, Ogun State had a total of 372 active COVID-19 cases it was managing in its Treatment and Isolation Centres. These cases include 7 new cases it recorded.
“In all, the State has confirmed a total of 1057 cases since the index case was confirmed.
“As it recorded 1 related death as part of the total 22, the State discharged 11 cases, bringing to 663, the cumulative number of discharged cases,” it was disclosed.
Meanwhile, Ogun residents have been advised to stay safe so as to stop the community spread of the novel COVID-19.
