The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr Kayode Alabi, on Friday tested negative for Coronavirus disease.
Alabi, who is the chairman of the state COVID-19 technical committee took the test alongside his staff on Friday, as part of measures to contain the spread of the virus.
The chief press secretary to the Deputy Governor, Modupe Joel, disclosed this in a statement in Ilorin.
The statement said results of the test taken by staff at the Deputy Governor’s office were being awaited.
Alabi urged the public to take responsibility and obey all the safety protocols to curb the deadly virus.
DAILY POST reports that the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Aminu Adisa Logun, died on Tuesday from coronavirus complications and was buried on Wednesday in Ilorin.
Following the development, the state government directed all cabinet members, government officials and medical personnel who had contacts with the late Chief of Staff to test for the virus and proceed on self-isolation for 14 days.
The government house clinic where the late Chief of Staff was first attended to, was also shut down, while official physical meetings by government officials have been suspended indefinitely as part of measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus.
