The Kwara State government on Saturday announced 85 new confirmed cases of the deadly Covid-19.
The figure represents the highest daily figure of confirmed cases of the virus in the state so far.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 535, according to an update by the state Covid-19 technical committee in Ilorin.
While the total number of deaths recorded so far remains at 14, the number of active cases is put at 334.
Out of the total number of 3170 tests done, 2187 returned negative.
A total of 187 patients have been discharged, while 448 tests are being awaited.
DAILY POST reports that the state Covid-19 technical committee raided the state owned Kwara hotels in the early hours of Saturday and arrested 50 violators of Covid-19 safety protocols while clubbing.
The government described the action as a strong signal that such behaviours would not be tolerated.
The raid on the hotel was led by the chairman of the state Covid-19 technical committee and deputy governor of the state, Kayode Alabi, accompanied by security operatives.
