Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has expressed sadness over the killing of the District Head of Kundav in Ukum Local Government Area of the state, Chief Awua Alabar.
DAILY POST learnt that the community leader was killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday.
Ortom described the killing of Alabar as unacceptable.
In a statement by his spokesman, Tever Akase, the governor charged security operatives to fish out the killers and bring them to justice.
He also urged the people of Ukum, Katsina-Ala and other parts of Sankera to assist security agents with information that can lead to the arrest of the bandits.
Ortom said the current onslaught on criminals in that axis of the state which has decimated their strongholds and forced many of them to flee to other parts of the country, will be sustained.
He condoled with the family of Chief Alabar over the painful loss and prayed that God should grant the deceased soul eternal rest.
