A total of 64 Almajiri children who tested positive for Coronavirus in Niger State have recovered fully from the dreaded disease.
The results of the 64 kids returned positive out of the 1,075 tests conducted by the state Taskforce on COVID-19.
The state Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Mohamned Makusidi made the disclosure while answering questions from journalists in Minna
He said the 64 kids have been returned to their various states of origin and reunited with their parents including those from Niger State.
The commissioner explained that the COVID-19 tests were conducted on 1,778 persons in the state out of which 166 tested positive to the virus.
“The good news is that the kids have all recovered and are now reunited with their families. And, as at today, we do not have any patient in our isolation centres because we have discharged most of them while a few others have been transferred out for more medical attention.”
He further disclosed that soon the state would overcome challenges in testing with the completion of the multi-purpose testing laboratory being built in Minna, the state capital.
The commissioner then called on the people to always report all deaths in order to subject the dead to COVID-19 test to ensure the safety of family members and the public in general.
