Gov Dapo Abiodun has welcomed the new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Edward Awolowo Ajogun.
Ajogun is replacing Kenneth Ebrimson, who just retired from the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday.
Receiving the new Police Commissioner in his office at Okemosan, Abeokuta on Thursday, Abiodun assured him of his administration’s support towards fighting crime in the State.
Abiodun applauded the retiring Police Commissioner, Ebrimson for his efforts at stemming the tide of crimes and criminality in the State.
The Governor said under the retired police Commissioner, the State was able to curtail cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Gov Abiodun commended the retired Police Commissioner and other security chiefs in the state for rising to the occasion, charging Ajogun to take over from where he stopped.
The new Police Commissioner, Ajogun, in his response, pledged that the police command under him would not give room for indiscipline, assuring that he would lead the fight against crimes and criminality to the criminals’ hideouts.
Earlier, Ajogun warned that the police under his watch would take the battle to the den of kidnappers, threatening to deal decisively with armed robbers, cultists, drug dealers, sea pirates, and human traffickers.
He said his war mantra will be ‘criminal, here are your own coins’, saying the police in Ogun will pay criminals back in their own coins should they dare their resolve and determination.
The CP threatened that “Ogun state will be made too hot for criminally-minded persons, advising the “deviants” to quickly leave the state now and never return or be prepared to suffer unprecedented fatalities.”
Ajogun also warned officers under Ogun command against all unprofessional conducts, including the misuse of firearms and extrajudicial killings.
He charged that civilians in the State should be treated with utmost respect, as all lives matter.
