Hon Chinedum Orji, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has assured Abia citizens in the diaspora that the Diaspora Commission Bill 2020 will be passed into law.
The Speaker, who gave the assurance in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Jude Chijioke Ndukwe, to commemorate 2020 National Diaspora Day, highlighted that the bill seeks to harness the potentials of Abia State citizens in the Diaspora and create an enabling environment for them to seamlessly and fully participate in the sociopolitical and economic development of the state.
Orji added that the contributions of Nigerians in the Diaspora to the nation’s development cannot be overemphasized, saying that the Federal Government has done well to recognise and set a day aside to celebrate them.
DAILY POST recall that the Federal Government had set July 25 every year as National Diaspora Day.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt Hon. Chinedum Orji, says God has shown His faithfulness to Abians by sustaining and saving the Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
The Speaker who appreciated God for His goodness to the Governor and Abia people prayed the Creator to continue to protect and preserve the State’s Chief Executive as he pilots the affairs of the state.
Speaking at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Umuahia, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji who led Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly to meet with the Governor thanked the Almighty God for making the Governor survive the coronavirus disease.
He said members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly deemed it very fit to come here and see you since your return.
“We are here to thank the Almighty God for your safe return to the State.
“What happened to you can happen to anybody; the Almighty God will continue to guide and protect you”, he said.
