Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, today assented to six bills, including the revised 2020 budget, passed by the state House of Assembly.
Other bills signed to become laws are Violence Against Person (Prohibition) Act, Act Renaming the College of Health Technology, Ningi to Belinda and Gate College of Health Technology, Ningi, Act Renaming College of Nursing and Midwifery to Aliko Dangote College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Also assented to by the governor are Bauchi State Public Procurement Act, 2020 and the Act Renaming AD Rufai College of Legal Studies to AD Rufai College of Education and Legal Studies.
Speaking after assenting to the bills, Governor Muhammad informed that the 2020 Appropriation Act was revised in view of the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy.
He said despite the negative effect of the pandemic, the state government is determined to continue with the execution of projects embarked upon, adding that the government has made provisions for the execution of the projects.
According to the governor, renaming the two Colleges of Health in the state is meant to appreciate the philanthropists for their outstanding contributions towards the advancement of healthcare system.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable Abubakar Y Suleiman, who presented the bills to the governor on behalf of the lawmakers commended the executive arm of the state government for the well-prepared 2020 revised budget.
