The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIM) Cross River State Command has called back officers and men who were on annual leave to their duty stations to check illegal immigrants.
Speaking with DAILY POST on phone on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Austine Amor said that some of the officers and men who were on annual leave were called back to beef up the number on ground.
“I do know that our formations are always on the road, I am not aware if there is going to be reinforcement but we have our men that are always on the road to checkmate those coming in and going out.
“They have been encouraged and mandated to be on the alert. We have called back those who were on leave to join others to be on alert during this Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” he stated.
He said that the affected officers and men will continue their leave on Monday after the public holidays, “They will continue their leave on Monday,” he said.
Mr Amor further said “Though we have enough men on our road if you asked me. Our men are adequately armed and trained to handle any situation. You know every challenge comes with its unique technique and our men are being updated on a regular basis.
“Currently, as I am speaking to you, some of our men are in Port Harcourt undergoing training and they will be through today and most of them will come back today for deployment, ” he emphasized.
