Nearly one million people are COVID-19 positive in Africa.
This is according to data from the Africa Centre Control (CDC).
CDC said as of Sunday, August 2, 2020, the 55-nation Africa Union has 944,450 confirmed cases.
However, the data revealed that despite the rising COVID-19 infections, 602,578 which is more than half of those who contracted the virus, have recovered.
About 19,920 persons have died from complications from the Coronavirus.
Southern Africa has the highest number of cases with 526,870.
The least infected region on the continent is Central Africa, having reported 48,897 cases, 941 deaths and 34,212 recovered persons.
