Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President, has said that the late Pa Ayo Fasanmi, a prominent leader of Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, was actively involved in the push for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria.
Atiku explained that Fasanmi belonged in the elite club of the founding fathers of Nigeria, adding that he will be sorely missed.
DAILY POST recalls that Ayo Fasanmi died last week Wednesday.
His son, Folabi noted that the elder statesman died “at the ripe age of 94 years.”
Reacting to the development, Atiku in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday morning wrote: “Chief Ayo Fasanmi belonged in the elite club of the founding fathers of our country.
“He was also actively involved in the push for the restoration of democracy. He will be sorely missed.
“My thoughts & prayers are with his family. May God Almighty grant his soul eternal rest.”
