Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has commended the Federal Government for approving the sum of N75B for Nigerian Youths Investment Fund,(NYIF), to support enterprises among youths within the age of eighteen and thirty-five years.
This was contained in a letter to the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare and signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Ikpeazu on Strategy and Planning, Dr. Iboko Imo Iboko, on Thursday.
Governor Ikpeazu urged all youths in Abia State within the age bracket to brace up and key into the Business Capital Opportunity provided by the Federal Government at a low-interest rate of five percent as against the conventional percentage operated by financial institutions.
Ikpeazu further urged the Minister to remember to appoint Abia youths in any monitoring Committee that may be set up for the programme and also consider Abia State for citing of Zonal and State Monitoring offices of the scheme.
Meanwhile, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has lamented the absence of Federal presence in the State, adding that Abia is ripe to have a federal secretariat.
The Governor stated this Thursday, during a courtesy visit by Federal Commissioner, representing Abia State at the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Henry Ogbulogo, who was in the State on a working visit.
He called on the Commissioner to join in the clarion call for a federal secretariat in the State, adding that the mere absence of a federal secretariat further points to the absence of federal presence in the State
