President Muhammadu Buhari has urged traditional leaders to support his government’s fight against insecurity.
Buhari acknowledged their overtime contributions in his remarks at the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
Buhari spoke at the wedding fatiha of the children of the families of Ambassador Shehu Malami and late Alhaji Musa Abubakar.
He was represented by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami, who led Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi and Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, among others to the event.
Buhari noted that the federal government has been relentless in the battle against armed banditry and other forms of criminalities.
Malami told the Sultan: “Mr. President has directed us to express gratitude to you for all the support you have been extending to his government specifically on security matters and associated social ills bedevilling this country.”
The AGF stated that Buhari appreciates the monarch’s efforts on peace and unity of the nation.
Speaking, Abubakar, the head of Muslims in Nigeria, expressed support for the Buhari administration.
“We will continue to do our best to see that peace, stability and development reign in Nigeria”, the Sultan assured.
