The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the dissolution of all local government councils in the state with immediate effect.
The dissolution, according to a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mohammed Sabi’u Baba, is sequent
to the release of timetable for the local government council election in the state by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).
The SSG added that Governor Mohammed’s action is aimed at providing level playing ground for all contestants.
He stated that Heads of Administration in the local government councils are directed to take over the affairs of their respective local governments.
Governor Mohammed, the released added, however, thanks the outgoing local government councils chairmen, deputy and councillors for their meritorious services rendered to the state.
“Following the release of timetable for the forthcoming local government council elections in the state and in compliance with the guidelines issued by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) for the provision of 30 days’ notice by all candidates who wish to participate in the election, His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has approved the dissolution of all local government councils in the state with immediate effect. This action is taken to provide level playing ground for all contestants.
“Accordingly, local government Heads of Administration are hereby directed to take over the affairs of respective local governments.
“His Excellency , the Governor wishes to thank the outgoing Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen and Councillors for the meritorious services rendered to the State and pray for success in their future endeavours,” the release stated.
