No fewer than 20 staffers of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, have tested positive to coronavirus in Ogun State.
DAILY POST learnt that affected individuals were those working at the hospital’s medical laboratory.
It was learnt that one of the workers had infected his family of four as they contracted the virus through him.
A reliable source in the hospital told newsmen that the staff of the laboratory decided to get tested for COVID-19 on Friday after the death of a staffer of the medical laboratory section.
Of the about 70 tests conducted, results of 20 returned positive, causing panic among others in OOUTH.
It was gathered that those who tested positive for the virus have been asked to embark on self-isolation.
Staff of the teaching hospital has blamed the management of OOUTH for what they termed their failure to produce for them, Personal Protective Equipment.
Meanwhile, the OOUTH Chief Medical Director, Dr Peter Adefuye has said he is not in a position to talk on the matter.
Contacted, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker told DAILY on phone that, “I am in a meeting. I am here with six other people. I can’t talk right now.”
