Fresh facts have emerged on the crisis rocking Neke-Uno Nike Community, Enugu East local government area of Enugu State.
DAILY POST reports that some indigenes of the community had staged a protest in front of the Enugu Government House, accusing their traditional ruler, HRH, Igwe E. N.S Udoku Edoga, the Eze Atta 1 of Mbano-Nike, of tyranny and imposition of leadership.
They accused the monarch of imposing Mr. Anayo Agbo on them as the chairman of Power of Attorney, instead of one Mr. Gabriel Agbo, who they claimed was elected.
However, enquiries have shown that the protesting group had earlier failed to justify their claims during a series of meetings convened by the traditional ruler.
In a letter dated August 2, 2020, copied to the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the police hierarchy, among others, the monarch said findings showed that Anayo Agbo’s Power of Attorney group was duly elected.
He maintained in the report that Gilbert Agbo’s group, working in connivance with the old Power of Attorney, were earlier feeding him with wrong information.
“Having given the parties involved equal opportunity to present their case and flowing from the facts and evidence brought before me by the parties and the said further investigation into details of the events resulting to this conflict, it is irresistible to come to but a conclusion, which is that those who have tested power would always want to remain on the corridors of power and would pay the cost so as to stay at the expense of the led.
“That Mr. Anayo Agbo was duly elected as the Power of Attorney Chairman by his people and has been given the mantle as evidenced by the ancient basin containing the documents used by past chairman of the Power Attorney handed to him and the consequent blessing of his team by the Oha Neke elders as shown clearly in the video played before me during the proceeding wherein the people celebrated his emergence,” the monarch revealed.
Meanwhile, in an earlier letter, the monarch had warned one Barr. Emeka Agbo against parading himself as the lawyer to the community.
He said the lawyer, who also spoke to journalists during the protest, lacked the capacity to participate in the affairs of the Neke-Uno Community.
Igwe Edoga had said, “That you are not the lawyer/counsel to the Neke-Uno Nike Community in Mbano, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
“That you should stop parading yourself as a lawyer/counsel to the Neke-Uno Nike Community.
“That if such a report reaches my office that you have maintained this act, I will institute an action against you; invite the law enforcement agency to investigate you.”
It was gathered that these developments may have instigated the protest against the monarch.
