The taskforce set up by Oyo state government to regulate operations of private health facilities has sealed no fewer than six health facilities.
The six health facilities were sealed in both Ibadan and Oyo town.
DAILY POST gathered on Sunday that they were sealed due to non-accreditation, quackery practices amongst other misconducts by owners of the hospitals.
Our correspondent learnt that the team lead by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello closed four health facilities situated at Cele and Agunpopo areas in Oyo town and two in Ibadan, located at Alakia and Amuloko.
Bello while speaking during the monitoring exercise, expressed concern over the reoccurrence of illegal practices among owners of private health facilities in the state
He maintained that the government was pertinent about the delivery of quality health care in both the public and private health facilities for the sake of citizens and residents of the state.
Bello said the idea behind the monitoring was to maintain sanity in the health sector and ensure facilities under the watch of personnel with professional qualifications secure accreditation as and when due.
He hinted that the drive is not limited to private hospitals alone but all private facilities offering health care services, which includes laboratory services, pharmacy, nursing amongst others.
He stated further that the present administration remains sacrosanct about the well-being of individuals, hence, there is need for qualified medical practitioners who are yet to register their facilities to do the needful without further delay.
“The drive embarked upon by the taskforce was about everything that has to do with health, we don’t want quackery practice in private health facilities which includes laboratory services, pharmacy, nursing.
“Also you can see we have representatives from various fields in the taskforce.
“We want our people to be in good health, we want qualified health personnel to take care of our people and that is why we are calling on qualified health personnel, that if you have not done your registration and renewal of facility, come to the ministry of health and sort it out.
“A lot of quackery is happening, like this place we are now, we were here sometimes early this year, the owner of the facility is not a qualified medical personnel and was running hypertensive clinic. We locked up the place and told him to get someone that is qualified to the job, now you can see the place is open, this is illegality.”
