The Northeast Governors Forum (NEGF) has appointed Muhammad Abba Aji as the body’s Executive Secretary.
He will coordinate the forum’s affairs and head the secretariat for an initial period of two years.
Isa Gusau, the spokesman to Borno Governor and NEGF Chairman, Babagana Zulum, made the announcement on Thursday.
A statement he signed said Zulum conveyed the appointment in a letter to Aji.
The governor noted that it was a unanimous decision of the governors.
Zulum said Aji was selected for his wealth of legislative experience in the National Assembly and corporate experience in the financial sector.
“Your skills and wealth of experience would be valuable to the forum. You will provide administrative and policy assistance towards the attainment of the Forum’s vision and objectives.
“We look forward to your positive response to this offer and the pleasure of working with you to build a positive working relationship that will benefit the people of the North-East region,” Zulum wrote.
NEGF was formed in March 2020 when governors of the region first met in Gombe State.
In August, they met again in Maiduguri during which Zulum was elected chairman for a period of two years.
