Less than 72 hours after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked officials of the Borno State government on their way to Baga from Monguno, the militants again ambushed the governor’s convoy while returning home between Monguno and Maiduguri on Sunday.
Monguno is in the northern Borno where activities of terrorists continued to put pressure on government forces that are trying to bring an end to the insurgency that is ravaging the northeast states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states in the last eleven years.
Monguno is also hosting thousands of internally displaced persons, IDPs, who were displaced from Marte, Baga, Kukawa, Dikwa and other surrounding local government areas.
There is no official confirmation of the attack as of the time of filing this report.
