Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has suspended his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, for saying President Muhammadu Buhari’s government lacks empathy.
Recall that Yakasai had while reacting to the protests by Nigerian youths against the unlawful operations of SARS officers said he had never experienced a government with zero empathy like the one led by Buhari.
But reacting, Ganduje in a statement by the state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said the aide was suspended for his unguarded utterances adding that the suspension was with immediate effect.
Garba also warned political appointees and public servants to guard against making statements capable of drawing unnecessary controversy and heating up the polity.
According to him, ”although the media aide has owned up the indiscreet comment as his personal opinion as a public figure, it will be difficult to differentiate between personal opinion and official stand on matters of public concern.”
He, therefore, reaffirmed the commitment of Mr Ganduje to the policies and programmes of President Buhari’s administration.
