Peter Obi, a former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice Presidential candidate, has said that the disbandment of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, would allow Nigeria to reform not just the police, but all her security agencies.
DAILY POST recalls that following the nationwide protest against police brutality, Adamu, on Sunday ordered all officers and men of the now-defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad to be redeployed with immediate effect.
Reacting to the development in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday, Obi also said that it would make the Nigeria police to focus on their mandate, and end the brutality against Nigerian youths.
“The end of FSARS allows us to reform not just @PoliceNG, but also all our security agencies.
“It will also ensure they focus on their mandate and #EndPoliceBrutality against our youth.
“Most importantly also, is a need to create opportunities for our youths to be engaged and make the best of their productive years,” Obi tweeted.
