Governor Nasir El-Rufai has approved the establishment of a school for gifted and talented children in the 2021/2022 academic season in Kaduna State.
construction has already commenced on the school situated in Danbuchia in Chikun local government area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Shehu Usman Muhammad, while declaring a one-day meeting open, said the school would start with 300 students.
The meeting was organized by the Development Research and Project Centre, DRPC, for Career Guidance and Counselling of existing female graduates from vocational and technical schools in Kaduna State.
He explained that gifted and talented children in all the various communities in the state would be carefully selected and will be taught by special teachers in a good enabling environment so that they will grow at the level God has given to them.
He noted that following the special attention placed on girl-child education by Governor El-Rufai, a special technical school would be constructed for the girls in the state so that the state would compete favourably with any other girls in the world.
He assured that the state government was doing all it could to ensure a balance in boys and girls enrolment in schools in the state, stressing that everything is being done to encourage girl-child education in the state.
