Ibadan, the Oyo state capital is currently at a stand still, DAILY POST reports.
Our correspondent reports that most parts of streets and major roads in Ibadan have been taken over by protesting youths who are calling for the ban of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Other major points of entry and exit in the ancient city have been taken over by the youths.
Our correspondent who monitored the ongoing protests reports that the youths barricaded major roads and streets.
The protesters after taking over the roads put up tent and entertain themselves with different kinds of music.
In some of the roads visited, the youths organized themselves in batches and play football matches on the roads.
DAILY POST reports that the youths barricaded the major roads as early as 7.am.
Among the major roads that are currently blocked is Eleyele-Eruwa Road. The Eleyele junction which links Dugbe, Sango and leads to Eruwa was blocked as early as 7.am.
Other major junctions along the Eleyele-Ido-Eruwa Road have been blocked. Some of the major junctions such as Adetokun, Ologuneru and Camp junctions have been blocked as at the time of filing this report.
This made many of the commuters coming from Eruwa Road to turn back to their various homes.
The Bashorun- Akobo, Idi-Ape-Iwo Roads are currently deserted as at the time of filing this report.
As at the time of filing this report, many shops and stores have closed down due to fear of attacks.
Though, Oyo state government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde said that he has deployed the Oyo State Security Outfit known as Operation Burst to maintain law and order, our correspondent however gathered that there is no single security personnel in all the areas visited.
Our correspondent reports that the absence of security agencies on the roads and major junctions and streets is creating fear in the minds of many of the residents.
