The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, on Wednesday, called for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari for what it termed genocide against innocent citizens.
Afenifere’s spokesman, Yinka Odumakin made the call while condemning the shooting of End SARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State on Tuesday.
It was reported that soldiers had shot at the peaceful End SARS protesters last night.
Though several people were allegedly killed in the incident, however, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had insisted that only one person died.
However, Odumakin, in a chat with DAILY POST described the shooting as a sign of a despotic and barbaric regime.
According to Odumakin: “It is barbaric and a sign of a despotic regime for a government to murder peaceful protesters in such a cold-blooded manner with live bullets.
“Nigerian government must hold all the officers responsible and we want them to be tried at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for this genocide.
“This government should stop behaving like a barbaric government and start acting like a civilized one.
“Southern and Middle Belt leaders have called for Buhari’s resignation and we Afenifere are part of the group so we are demanding he resigns.”
