At least, one suspected hoodlum whose name is yet to be identified has reportedly been shot dead by security officers, during the End SARS protest in Ebonyi State.
The victim was allegedly shot along the Abakaliki prisons road.
It was gathered that the security agency who cordoned Abakaliki prisons to avert a jailbreak, warned the rampaging protesters to desist from surging towards the prisons but one of them flouted the order and was hit by a stray bullet.
Investigation revealed that an ambulance from the nearby hospital was called and immediately evacuated the dead body.
DAILY POST also learned that a police commander was attacked while trying to prevent the protesters from burning down Kpiri Kpiri police division.
Meanwhile, schools both private and public schools including the popular international market among others have been shut down for fear of possible attack by the rampaging hoodlums under the cover of End SARS protest in Ebonyi State.
Also, gas stations, filling stations, shops and event centres have been closed down in Abakaliki metropolis to avert attacks.
Movements of citizens of the state were restricted by security agencies who were seen blocking major roads and streets of the Abakaliki metropolis.
However, the military has taken over the town to avert a repeat of Tuesday’s event where police stations were burnt down and properties worth millions of Naria, destroyed by the hoodlums.
DAILY POST also gathered that youths of Ebonyi State under the aegis of Ekubaraoha youth assembly were heavily mobilized to join hands with the military to wage war against further attacks and destruction of properties by the suspected hoodlums.
When contacted for further details, the Ebonyi State Command, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Loveth Odah said “my commissioner has directed me to make a statement in that regard, I will soon get it ready” she noted.
However, the governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi had lamented over the destruction of some government properties by the hoodlums.
According to him: “These hoodlums and cultists have burnt many police stations, moved to the prison to set prisoners free and they are attacking security agencies including shooting at them.
“These hoodlums and cultists are not Ebonyians but they came from outside because they do not wish us well.
“Security agencies in our state have sustained injuries from the attacks of these hoodlums and the provocation. These Security agencies have exercised great patients and wisdom in handling the issue at stake and I urge them to continue doing just that.
“Government vehicles and infrastructure of government have come under severe destruction and this is regrettable.
“I will continue to say that the peaceful protesters have their legitimate demands and I offer my apologies for many areas we leaders have failed our young children. We believe that the success of the peaceful #ENDSARS protest will make us leaders make amends where necessary.
“I appeal to our people not to allow outsiders to destroy the modest improvements of our state which may not have gone down well to some people outside our state who do not wish us well and who imported these hoodlums to our state” he stated.
